This year, Teen Parent Connection is celebrating a milestone- 40 years of services to the young moms and dads in DuPage County. Every young mom we serve has a partner in parenting, often a young father facing the same challenges, but with fewer supports. Our Young Dads’ Program provides education and resources to help young dads develop essential parenting skills and grow their self-confidence. The Dads’ Engagement Coordinator, Patrick, works one-on-one with every father and guides them through their new role as a young parent. 100% of our participating dads say they spend more time and have stronger relations with their children because of this program.

MEET TYLER AND JADA
Young parents-to-be, Tyler and Jada felt excited and a little scared when they found out they were pregnant. Soon after, Jada reached out to TPC for resources. Tyler also got involved in our Childbirth Education classes and the Young Dads’ Program. “The topics in those classes helped not just for Jada but for me as well.” -Tyler.
With a Doula by their side, they welcomed baby Mike into the world. Even after the birth of their baby, Tyler kept meeting with our Dads’ Program Coordinator, Patrick. “He always asks how I’m doing. He’s very helpful when I have questions and when I’m going through my own anxieties about being a new dad and how to support a family.” Tyler mentioned TPC’s programs played a huge role in his path to fatherhood. Both Tyler and Jada look forward to the future with hope and a supportive community at their side.
