Teen Parent Connection

Volunteer

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world;
indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead –

Teen Parent Connection would not be able to serve its mission without the support of the hundreds of volunteers from across the DuPage County community. Volunteers help in a variety of ways; from providing meals at group sites to assisting participants in the Parents’ Pantry or serving on the board of directors. We simply could not do what we do in the community without volunteer support.

CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE:

Childcare For Parent Group Meetings

Are you over the age 17 and you love working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old? Become a volunteer Childcare Specialist for our Young Parent Groups program! Responsibilities include supervising the childcare room at our group meetings and assuring the safety of the children. We would love your time 2-3 hours per week at one or more of our group meeting sites in DuPage County. Each group meets weekly throughout the year. A mandatory background check, fingerprinting, and training are required and you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. An understanding of child development and how to care for infants and toddlers is a plus. Use this experience to build your skills and knowledge of child development and organization. Board of Directors Member or Community Advisor Position

Support the mission of Teen Parent Connection through board service. The board is responsible for providing governance, financial oversight, strategic planning, and building connections that help advance the mission. Work collaboratively with 12-18 other board members to ensure and protect the public interest of the organization. Board meetings are held every other month. Committees meet in the month between board meetings. Share your expertise, build your experience, and meet others who are interested in making a difference for the children in our community.

Event Volunteers

Come join a vibrant group and help plan an event for a good cause. This opportunity allows you to meet others in the DuPage County community and have some fun! Joining an event committee is a great way to learn about Teen Parent Connection’s mission and work. We have two major events each year. Share your talent and help us with soliciting auction items, sponsorships, planning, decorating, public relations and event promotion.

Parents’ Pantry Drive

Teen Parent Connection’s Parents’ Pantry relies on donations from volunteers and community groups. Past pantry drives have been led by hospitals, corporate offices, women’s associations, scout troops, and local churches. As a crew leader of a pantry drive, you organize the location, duration of your particular drive, and solicit items such as diapers, wipes and formula. The crew leader also facilitates the transportation of the items and organizes the donations at the Teen Parent Connection offices.

Prevention Program – Community Advisory Group

Teen Parent Connection is looking for volunteers for its Prevention Program’s Community Advisory Group (CAG). CAG members include prevention program staff, peer educators, parents of adolescents, teachers, community health educators, concerned citizens, and adolescents.
